Silica Worksafebc Developing a silica exposure control plan this guidance document is intended to assist employers to development an exposure control plan (ecp) that meets the requirements of the occupational health and safety regulation and protects workers from overexposure to silica dust. An exposure control plan (ecp) is a comprehensive document that outlines procedures, policies, and practices designed to protect workers from exposure to hazardous substances and conditions in the workplace. they are required by worksafebc under section 5.54 of the occupational health and safety regulation (ohsr) at workplaces where hazardous. Workers will report any symptoms of silica exposure to the employer and worksafebc for tracking and investigation. annual review this ecp will be reviewed at least annually and updated as necessary by the employer, in consultation with the workplace health and safety committee or the worker health and safety representative. The bc construction safety alliance (bccsa) plans to use this summer to bolster its innovative digital silica management tool. the online tool was developed by the bccsa in partnership with worksafebc and the university of b.c. (ubc). it enables employers to analyze silica exposure levels in their workplace and automatically develop an exposure.
