Outboard Won T Pee Do This Youtube Outboard engines typically have a telltale, also known as a “pee hole” or “water stream indicator.” this feature is a visible indicator of the proper functioning of the engine’s cooling system. inboard and sterndrive engines, on the other hand, usually do not have a telltale. Mercury Outboard Rectifier Wiring Diagram Locate the water intake ports on the lower unit of the outboard. check for any visible obstructions, such as debris, weeds, or marine growth. use a soft brush or a piece of wire to clear away any blockages. 3. inspect the impeller: remove the lower unit of the outboard following your manufacturer’s guidelines. This is a dead giveaway when your motor isn’t peeing. clearing the pee hole isn’t easily done with your fingers. you need one (or both) of these tools: thumb tack. stripped twist tie. weed whacker line (not shown) use the thumb tack to clear clogs at the pee hole and twist tie (with the coating stripped off) to clear clogs further upstream. Carefully insert it into the “pee hole” and wiggle it around a bit to dislodge any potential blockages. be careful not to push too hard. once you’ve done that, try running the motor again to see if the water flow has been restored. these two steps should hopefully solve most cases of an outboard motor not peeing. Put it back together and run it in a trashcan full of water with the pee fitting removed from the block. my experience is that is the most reliable way of clearing blockage from the tell tale bypass passage. more effective than wire, trimmer line or even compressed air in my opinion. good luck.

Apr 6, 2010. #16. re: mercury outboard no pee hole discharge. here is what i have done with all my merc engines, i take the "pee" fitting off the crowling and drill the hole out enough so the hose that went to the "pee" fitting sticks out of the crowling, since i've been doing this i've never had anything clog up the small "pee" fitting.
