Florence School Historical Marker T. y. marker text: in 1890, the forerunner of florence school in the tarrant county common school district no. 34 was called "green glade". in 1903 thomas richard sandidge, a school trustee, and his wife nannie provided one acre at this site for school purposes. the nearby green glade site was sold, and the florence schoolhouse, a one room. Following the death of her husband in 1924, florence sold the home to her brother, dr. ben largent (1886 1936), and his wife, leota. the foursquare style house, which exhibits influences of the prairie school and bungalow styles of architecture, remained in the family until 1945. recorded texas historic landmark 1984***.
