Abstract Trees Fourth Grade Art Elementary Art Class This was such a fun and successful project. i introduced my fourth graders to the abstract art of wassily kandinsky. kandinsky is most well known for his abstract paintings that were inspired by music, and less well known for his colorful landscapes. i love to show my students this painting "landscape with a green house," painted by wassily kandinsky in 1909. we talk about the way the bright. A focus of the lesson was color mixing, blending and layering of the oil pastel. steps: day one– (40 minutes) 1. show images of piet mondrian’s abstract trees. i use a powerpoint slideshow to show his art work. discuss how he started out with realistic trees, then they became more and more abstract.
